How to Remote Desktop

There are occasions in which it is necessary to access something on the computer when you are not at home. Syncing a wireless device to the desktop is the most beneficial way to access files stored on the desktop, and save data space on the portable device.

  1. First: Sync portable device to the computer

Using the USB cable and CD-ROM included with the portable device, you can sync the device and the desktop computer together. After you set the computer up to sync the portable device, you may also need to manually program the device to allow the syncing process. You may also need to set up a user name and password if the software requires that information. It is a good idea to do this for security purposes.

  2. Second: Format files

Format files so that you can view them correctly on the portable device. With Windows applications, reformatting is generally not required. Windows portable devices, including phones, have the ability to remotely access and read different files as if you were using the desktop computer.

  3. Third: Unplug the device and attempt to remotely access a desktop

Go to the settings section of the device. On many devices, there is a "Cloud" icon for Windows 7 users. Double click that to access the menu. After accessing the menu, click on the "remote desktop" icon. From there, look for a new screen that may or may not ask for a password, depending on the settings. After the screen completes its loading, the device should have the desktop screen from the home computer up and ready to use.
