How to Use Skype

Skype is the leading video chat provider. Skype was created several years ago and has recently made a giant leap for the best quality of services provided over the internet. Skype allows two users to connect anywhere in the world via webcam and microphone.
First: Connect to the internet
Internet connection is essential to the operation of Skype. Broadband connections are the best way to secure a Skype conversation, as it is least likely to disconnect. Broadband internet connections are also faster than dial-up or 56k modem connections, and allow for a more clear picture and audio.
Second: Plug in webcam and microphone
In order to get the best use out of Skype, use both the webcam and microphone. Generally, webcams have USB plugs to connect to the USB port on a computer. Microphones for computers often have two prongs, one for the speaker and one for the microphone. Each should get plugged into the respective jacks.
Third: Start Skype
Double click the Skype icon. There is a test function available for Skype to ensure that all components are working correctly. This was created to prevent problems during web calls. If you do not have a Skype account, you can quickly set up one at this time.
Fourth: Connect with the other party
Right click on the other user's screen name. Select "Begin Web Call" to start chatting with the other user.
Fifth: End phone call
You can select "End" at the end of the phone call, or simply exit out of Skype completely. Either option terminates the session.
